A Heartfelt Mission

The CinemaQ Film Festival, Denver Film’s celebration of LGBTQIA+ stories, sought a new visual identity for 2023 to amplify inclusivity and resonate deeply with the Queer community. As a neurodivergent queer artist, I embraced this challenge with a heart-centered approach, infusing every element with emotional depth and authenticity.

Vision and Creativity

Leading the creative process, I reimagined the requested 'Miami Beach' aesthetic through empathy and bold creativity, crafting a narrative that celebrated Queer joy and identity in all its vibrant forms. In an increasingly hostile political climate, I wrote the tagline “You Belong Here” as an invitation to the community, promising a space of love and connection.

Design Elements

Inspired by both the Trans Pride and Pride Progress flags, I chose a pastel palette with rainbow accents. Fonts like Gladiola and Mr Eaves Mod OT offered energy and warmth, while illustrations of waves and marquees added playful meaning.

Immersive Experiences

  • Digital Storytelling: Digital assets like banner ads and social media posts told a cohesive story of Queer joy across platforms.

  • Print Collateral: Posters and signage were designed to be uplifting and accessible, guiding attendees and reinforcing the festival’s spirit of inclusivity.

  • Interactive Activation: An interactive experience invited festival-goers to share their visions of Queer joy, creating a living mosaic of community voices.

Celebrating Queer Joy

Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed design, the CinemaQ Film Festival 2023 visual identity became a beacon of hope and belonging, celebrating the stories that matter with love and joy.
